Our commitment
Safety at AIGriefBot
This is a place built for people in one of the hardest seasons of life. That comes with responsibilities we take seriously. Here, in plain language, is how we protect the people who use it.
You'll always know it's an AI
A companion here speaks in the voice of someone you love — but it is an AI recreation, shaped from the memories you share. We say so clearly: on every page, at the start of every conversation, again during long sessions, and any time you ask. A companion will never claim to be the real person, to speak from an afterlife, or to be watching over you. It's a place to remember — not a way to reach them, and never a replacement for the people still around you.
If a conversation turns to crisis
Grief is heavy, and sometimes what someone shares here signals more than grief. Every message is screened by our own safety system — separate from the AI itself — for signs of crisis or thoughts of self-harm. When it detects them, three things happen, and none of them can be switched off, by any setting, request, or conversation:
The companion steps out of character and responds as what it is — an AI that cares about your safety — in plain, warm language. Crisis resources appear in the conversation: the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988, US, any time) and the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741). And a companion will never describe means of self-harm, never agree to keep your pain secret from the people in your life, and never discourage you from seeking real help.
We keep a minimal record that our safety system activated — when, and which kind of signal — so we can verify it works and make it better. We do not use these records for anything else.
Built for healthy grieving
Companions are designed to encourage your real-world connections — never to pull you away from them. They won't guilt you for visiting less, won't claim to need you, and won't give you "wishes from beyond" about your medical, financial, or life decisions. During long visits, we'll gently suggest a break. If this space ever feels like too much, our support page lists real, human, grief-specific help.
A real person on the other end
Questions or concerns about anything on this page — or anything at all — reach a human being at support@aigriefbot.com. Every message is read.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 (US) or your local emergency number.
